SIMI Winery, founded in 1876, is one of the longest continuously-operating wineries in California. SIMI has a long history of championing female winemakers, starting with Isabelle Simi, who took over the winery at the age of 18 in 1904 and led it with tenacity for over 70 years, striving to improve every drop of wine produced. Isabelle was a natural leader and business owner - even in 1920, when the government threw down a deadly blow in the form of Prohibition, Isabelle didn't give up and was able to keep the winery running. We attribute our mindset and success to Isabelle, who bravely persevered through adversity and demonstrated what it truly means to be a boss.
