Schloss Lieser has once again impressed us with the 2022 Niederberg Helden Riesling Spätlese, a fruity organic white wine fermented in stainless steel tanks. It is a typical Riesling, as it comes from the Moselle. The Niederberg Helden site is known for its steep hillside location, for its blue slate and for its old vines. Winemaker Thomas Haag and his wife Ute took over the famous Schloss Lieser winery, which was in dire need of renovation at the time, back in the 1990s. With a lot of commitment and dedication, the couple rebuilt the winery and thus - alongside a few colleagues - became one of the top German Riesling producers. Since then, the Schloss Lieser winery has stood for consistently high quality and absolutely top-quality wines. The premium wine from 2020 therefore effortlessly wins us over. The refreshing, summery stone fruit aroma, the spicy, mineral components of the slate, the vitalizing freshness and the comparatively low alcohol content make the 2020 Niederberg Helden Riesling Spätlese the perfect choice for a light lunch, a picnic or a social gathering on a warm summer night. This Riesling is a real hit, especially with sushi, seafood and poultry.
