The Loibenberg is one of the most famous locations in the Wachau. The steep, terraced vineyard directly behind the town of Loiben faces southeast, and is accordingly warm. The soil is largely characterized by gneiss and weathered rock. A certain maturity of the vintage is evident on the nose, yellow apple, dried apricots, a hint of quince jelly, plus wet stone and some lemon zest. On the palate, however, a slightly opulent texture, with a lot of melting, the acidity is there - but does not push into the foreground, together with the mineral kick very harmonious, sophisticated and drinkable, remains pleasant and long on the tongue.
