The Kracher winery is situated close to Lake Neusiedl at Illmitz in Burgenland. The vineyards are perfectly placed to benefit from the lakes microclimate, particularly its consistent encouragement of botrytis. Alois Kracher Sr. is a pioneer known for his early exploration along the eastern shores of Lake Neusiedl, positioned an hour and half southeast of Vienna. Kracher developed a love for the exceptional grape varieties in Burgenland and recognized the potential of growing in this region, long before his peers. The production of the prized sweet wines from the Weinlaubenhof has the essential component of noble rotten grapes, placing them in a class of their own with only a few coming close to the continual and highly rated global recognition Kracher receives.
