Around 1850, a winegrower worker from Aloxe-Corton, Pierre Pavelot, owned 1 hectare of vineyard, A few years later, with his brother Francois, he bought 60 Ares of Corton Charlemagne. He gave it to the Abbey Saint Andoche in Saulieu. Pierre’s daughter married Antoine CHAPUIS, the young teacher of the village.
Antoine had two sons, Eugene and Maurice who undertook to grow the Domaine. Eugene was killed during the Great War; Maurice inherited a house and vines from his aunt Cunisset-Carnot.
Strongly attached to the terroir, Maurice actively participated in the establishment of the AOC laws while working as winegrower. After 2nd World War, his son, Louis, continued his work and replanted almost all vines.
