Chateau La Grave Figeac converted to organic farming in 2009 under owner/winemaker Laurent Clauzel. Located at the border of Saint-Emilion and Pomerol on sandy clay and gravel soils over the limestone, it's neighbors are Cheval Blanc and Figeac in Saint-Emilion and La Conseillante in Pomerol. The blend here is 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc with an average vine age of 45 years. The 2020 is a bit more dusty and ethereal than the 2018 but still has some nice punchy fruit and the same herbal lift. This really shined with just a bit of air and is great for drinking now but will evolve nicely over the next ten years.
