Wine making process
Manual harvesting in 12 kg boxes, which guarantees the perfect condition of the bunches when they arrive at the winery. The grapes pass through “selection tables” before entering the fermentation tanks. Malolactic fermentation in barrels and cement tanks. 18 months in barrels, 70% French oak and 30% American oak, new and second-hand. Refining in the bottle for a minimum period of 6 months. We bottle it without stabilising after a light filtration to maintain the aromas and characteristics of the wine as much as possible.
Terroir
Within the Manzanos range, Crianza is our most unique wine and defines us as producers of “Terroir” wines. Here, viticulture work is fundamental. We select the best areas in the most emblematic estates of our 300 hectares of vineyards, in order to produce wines with a marked character and personality. It is the “selection of the selection”, both in the vineyard and in the winery. The Tempranillo comes from the oldest vineyard, Los Poyatos, over 50 years old, it has small clusters, good acidity, medium structure and is more elegant than structured. The finesse of its tannins makes it unique. The roots have explored over the years, making the strain resistant to drought and climate change. The Graciano is from the Los Molinos estate. This is the estate with the highest altitude of this variety within the Rioja del Reyno, located at 450 metres. This estate is marked by the word balance, between the low fertility of the land, the shallowness of the soil and its clayey loam texture with gypsum. It always gives us very concentrated grapes with loose bunches and small grain. The profile of the wine is ripe, with black fruit and violets. Manzanos Crianza is a wine with exceptional freshness, concentration and minerality, a uniqueness that undoubtedly sets us apart. The quality of the grape ensures that the wine is already made in the vineyard and is completed in the winery.
