The wine is dry with fine, lively bubbles, delicate pear and apple fruit aromas and a crisp finish. Whether served at the beginning of a beautiful evening for two, or sipped throughout a lively meal with friends, this celebrated bubbly has versatility at the table that can be shared time and time again. The elegant mousse can refresh your palate for the next bite, and the greater complexity and intensity of our Prosecco Superiore DOCG will not get overwhelmed by heavier dishes such as pasta carbonara with shrimp, grilled vegetables drizzled with Italian olive oil and parmesan cheese, or simply prepared filet of beef with rosemary.
100% GleraFounded in 1935 by Gaetano Marzotto, Santa Margherita was named after Gaetano’s much loved wife, Margherita. Steeped in a history of making Prosecco as far back as 1952, Santa Margherita gained its iconic status when it became among the first Italian Pinot Grigio to be vinified as a monovarietal, off its copper-colored skins enhancing its fruity freshness and bringing out the wine’s versatility at the table. The illustration on the label is of the historic Villa Marzotto, which was subsequently bequeathed to the town of Portogruaro, an hour’s drive from Venice. The bottle pays tribute to the illustrious history of the winery’s founding by the Marzotto family. The crest sits on an attractively-draped necktie, which reflects the family’s long history in the fabric and fashion industries. The front label is a small circle rather than a band to showcase the wine, but also includes a Venetian inspired mosaic pattern as a nod to the Marzotto family’s regional roots. Our vineyards are mainly east of the historical town of Valdobbiadene, where we grow the semi-aromatic Glera grape, using only natural products in the vineyards. Due to the steep slopes and because we want to retain the purity of the fruit, we hand harvest the grapes generally in the second half of September. The wine is dry with fine, lively bubbles, delicate pear and apple fruit aromas and a crisp finish.
