The MC Riesling is an elegant introduction to the Riesling league, with fresh unmistakable aromas of apple and citrusfruits and lively highlights of a delicate mineral note.\n \n Producer Information\n Müller-Catoir is a prestigious wine estate in the Pfalz region of Germany. It has been a family operation since 1744, and current owner Philipp David Catoir represents the ninth generation. The estate is best known for its intense Riesling wines from some of the region's best vineyard sites, but also vinifies several other grape varieties. The estate is based in Haardt, one of the nine wine villages around the town of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. 25 hectares (61 acres) of estate vineyards are scattered throughout the area. The vineyard near Haardt is planted on rock and sandstone soils, with some gravel in the lower-lying parts of the vineyard. Müller-Catoir also has a gravelly plot in Mussbach, and a plot on loess- and sand-based soils in Gimmeldingen. The vineyards have been certified organic since the 2009 vintage. In the vineyard, leaf growth is closely managed and a strict selection takes place during the manual harvest, even for fruit destined for the more basic wines. In the winery, grapes are crushed gently, and undergo a long skin contact, and then a gentle pressing. The juice ferments at warmer than average temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Müller-Catoir's wines are racked only once, not long before bottling. Müller-Catoir produces a variety of wines at a range of different quality levels. There are several wines sourced from Grosse Lage sites and Erste Lage sites, as well as several village-level wines. While the vast majority of the portfolio is Riesling, Müller-Catoir also makes wines from Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), Scheurebe, Sauvignon Blanc and Rieslaner, among others. Annual production totals at approxiamtely 160,000.
