VINEYARD COLLECTION Our Vineyard Collection wines highlight unique characteristics from specific blocks. These place- and terroir-driven wines reflect a pure expression of our estate vineyard in Knights Valley and winemaker Douglas Danielak’s guiding hand to bring out their highest qualities. Each block name is grounded in family history and our rural roots to reflect and honor our values. Ethel Linville Bailey was mother, teacher, and inspiration to Knights Bridge founders and brothers Jim and Essel Bailey. She completed a Master of Education degree while raising her family, farming alongside her husband, and teaching kindergarten. A gifted athlete and an exceptionally accomplished woman, she was a tireless advocate for her four children and deeply committed to their education. WINEMAKING Block 10 features the Goulding Soil Series, a mix of volcanic and sedimentary soil found on slopes with patches of rocky red clay. The character it imparts to Cabernet is unmistakable, yielding a compelling wine that combines exotic spice elements with a rich chocolate character. The grapes are night-harvested by hand, sorted, and destemmed, then undergo a 72-hour cold soak before beginning traditional fermentation with two pump overs per day for 10 days. The wine is then aged in 100% new French oak from Gamba, Fontainbleau, Taransaud and Darnajou forests.
Classically styled, the 2019 Linville Cabernet Sauvignon promises to be the longest lived wine of this stellar vintage. Aromas of warm blueberry compote and violet emerge with aeration and open to a middle palate that explodes with flavors of wild blackberry and cassis and finishes on a note of savory coffee and Brazilian cacao. This is a very polished and refined wine, especially for those who love to age Cabernet Sauvignon for a deCade or more
