San Polo was founded in 1994 and purchased in 2007 by Marilisa Allegrini. Today the estate is run by her two children, Carlotta and Caterina. Located on the cooler side of Montalcino and at the highest elevation of 1,476 ft, San Polo lies in the original zone allocated to the production of DOCG Brunello di Montalcino. San Polo encompasses 54 acres of organically-farmed land. Forty acres are planted under vine, with 20 of those acres dedicated solely to the production of DOCG Brunello di Montalcino. San Polo's vineyards obtained organic certification in 2017 and was the first winery in Tuscany to obtain the coveted CasaClima certification.
