Absolute banger of an Aglianico, all meat and spice, from the place where it grows best: Taurasi in Campania, Italy.\n \n Macchialupa winemaker Giuseppe Ferrara is all about his region's characteristic single varietal wines, growing his estate vines sustainably at 450m above sea level. After hand-picking, the grapes are macerated on skins for eighteen days, fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel, and matured in the same for another 6 months.\n \n This has spent a few years in the bottle softening out with those meaty, spicy, dried floral notes starting to develop nicely alongside some velvety tannins. Delicious now, and well worth laying down for a couple more years.
