Rich gold, clear amber color. The nose is mature and considered. Gentle at first, then soon rich and generous, with tangy top notes of lime and toffee apple, then a suggestion of walnuts on a soft, sweet, biscuit layer. Smooth textured and warming, with a bittersweet start. Soon becoming spicy and woody, with cedar, banana toffee and vanilla cream. The finish is long and warm, with a trace of Szechuan pepper (spicy and mouth-cooling).Matured in refill European oak butts, this 24 year old Glenkinchie single malt is part of Diageo's 2016 Special Releases. 5,928 natural cask strength bottles were produced, making it the oldest official bottling of cask strength Glenkinchie ever released as well as the first matured exclusively in European oak
