The vineyards of Ontanon are some of the highest vineyards in the region at 750 meters in the Rioja Oriental, providing low nighttime temperatures to retain acidity. The 2011 Gran Reserva, with 15% addition of Graciano spends 36 months in both American and French oak, then extensive aging in the bottle. Fresh red plums, pine forest, laurel, vanilla and herbs. The oak has its influence on the wine, but the juice remains fresh and vibrant with perfectly integrated tannins. Another spectacular Rioja value with serious age.
