Domaine Bernard & Thierry Glantenay Volnay Vieilles Vignes 2021 750 ML

These younger vines produced between twenty-eight and thirty hectoliters per hectare in 2021, due to having been pruned very late and not yet having shoots on the vines when the April frost hit. Those yields, while hardly generous in general for villages level vineyards, are bountiful for Volnay in 2021. The wine has turned out very nicely, offering up a nose of cherries, blood orange, pigeon, a touch of nutskin, woodsmoke and a lovely base of soil tones. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and nicely soil-driven in personality (especially for young vines), with a good core of red fruit, tangy acids, suave tannins and a long, complex and quite transparent finish. Good juice.
